11 Movies That are Too Disturbing But All are Based on True Events

We are living in a world where if anything mysterious or crazy happens then producers and directors start thinking about how to make money with that by filming the same in their movies.

Here is a list of some of the movies which should be on your bucket list to watch at your own risk because they are disturbing, creepy and based on the true events.

1. Annabelle, October 3, 2014

The first name that pops up in mind when we talk about the disturbing, creepy and real story is Annabelle. Though the movie is the prequel of the Conjuring, the story behind the movie is real and different from what it is for conjuring. The doll which is shown to be cursed by the spirit of a young child is in actual has been put in a glass cabinet of Occult Musem. It is said that whosoever has the doll, has died or severely injured. In the movie also, three friends have the doll, and their life becomes a hell because of that. Another Part of the Movie is yet to release which will depict the creation of the doll.

2. Conjuring, August 2, 2013

The movie is also based on true stories, events that took place with Carolyn and his husband, Roger Perron in 1970 in Rhode Island. Reports have been registered for many supernatural activities and creepy things that continued to take place during their long stay of 10 years. In the movie, it is shown that the house used to belong to a witch and even after her death the house had her spirits. The Sequel to the movie, The Conjuring 2 has already released, and the next sequel of the third part is all set to release in 2018.

3. The Mothman Prophecies, January 25, 2002

The Supernatural horror mystery is based on the true events that took place in West Virginia. The movie shows how the supernatural power indicates the different people about the event to happen and how no one can stop the event to take place. It also shows the story of a couple, how the wife dies and the husband investigates the reason of her death which leads him to know about the mysterious activities that took place in different part of the world due to some unknown creature.

4. Open Water, August 6, 2004

The horror drama was released in 2004, and it shows the true incident that took place on a scuba diving trip when the two divers were left behind mistakenly by their team in shark-infested water and were eaten later on. The couple went on to the scuba diving vacation to take a rest from their busy life which was ruining their life. Both tried to survive until the dawn, but unfortunately, when the sharks circled them they didn’t have any option left. Later, their diving equipment was found, from a shark’s stomach, by a fishing crew.

5. Monster, January 9, 2004

The Crime-drama is based on the story of a serial killer named Aileen Wuornos from 80s. She was a prostitute who moved from Michigan to Florida and fell in love with Seleby Wall. Seleby soon realized that she could not live with Aileen and decides to go far away from her. Being in the depression because of being left, and desperate for money, she went back to prostitution but starts killing the clients and taking their money. Soon, the cops caught her, and she was convicted to hang till death.

6. The Amityville Horror, April 15, 2005.

The Movie is about the experiences of Lutz family who moved into a cursed house from the 17th century. Just after few months of moving, Chelsea, younger child of Mr and Mrs Lutz, encountered with the spirit of another young child Jodie, who was killed by his father a few years back. The spirit in the house soon possessed Mr Lutz and tried to kill the rest of the family. Mrs Lutz knocked him down and escaped from there her children. Later on, the spirit leaves Mr Lutz body, and the house was sealed due to paranormal activities.

7. The Exorcism Of Emily Rose, September 9, 2005.

Released in 2005, the legal drama is based on the life of a girl, Anneliese Michel, who was possessed by six evil spirits. The movie depicts the trial drama of court law where her father was convicted for her death. Later on, though it was cleared that she was possessed by spirits but due to lack of evidence the father has sentenced the prison for years.

8. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, October 1, 1974.

Another one in the list of disturbing movies ever made is Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Though the movie is based on the real killing by a psychopath named Ed Gein, who liked to kill his victims and then wore their scalp on his face, the movie is based on a psychopath family who likes to slaughter the people asking for help and then use their bones to made furniture for the home.

9. Alive, January 15, 1993

A survival drama based on the true plane crash story in the Andes in 1972. The Movie portrays how the survivors eat the flesh from the corpses of their dead fellows to not die from hunger. For 2 months they were stranded at a place where there was no food and to survive, they had to do things that they remember for their lifetime.

10. 12 years a slave, August 30, 2013

A drama film and an adaptation of the slavery that took place in 1853, 12 years of a slave was acclaimed with various awards. It depicted the true suffering of people in 1853 and how the women were brutally raped and beaten to death to satisfy the white people.

11. Changeling, October 24, 2008

The movie is based on the event where a mother loses her child and then was forced to accept that an imposter was her son. When she refused to accept the same and tries to take help from media, the cops cleared her to be mentally ill and admitted her in a mental hospital where she gets to know that the cops were involved in the child trafficking racket.
